Karl Lagerfeld designed the Boy Collection as an interpretation of the boyish charm that Coco Chanel was known for. Karl was stated as saying that the very spirit of Chanel was inspired by Boy Capel, the love of her life; which is why this new collection is called the “Boy Chanel.” This bag is made of stunning bright pink python trimmed in a matching pink leather and with Ruthenium hardware. This particular bag is the original Medium size of the collection and features a long chain-link strap with a leather pad that can be used as a long strap or looped around as a shoulder bag. Retail price is $6800.
Chanel is constantly churning out new bags, many of them being new takes on classic bags for the house. The Chanel Boy Bag quickly turned into a staple for the brand, with many opting for a version of the Boy Bag over the Classic Flap (I know I am more of a Boy Bag lover than Flap at the moment). While there is rendition after rendition, sometimes a specific version stands out.
While I thought this bag was introduced for Chanel’s Metiers d’Art Paris in Rome 2016 collection, the Chanel Boy Bag with Handle grabbed everyone’s attention a year ago from Chanel’s Metiers d’Art 2015 Paris-Salzburg collection. The Boy Bag has always had a a chain shoulder strap, that can be doubled to make the bag shorter if you choose, but I wanted to take a closer look at the top handle addition. I love the inclusion of the handle, it gives this bag a sophisticated touch but remains super cool and casual at the same time. I’ve also been told the Boy Bag with Handle’s shoulder strap is 6 inches longer which gives you the ability to truly wear this bag crossbody, which many wish their Boy Bag would allow as well.
